Formula

Cycle time = treatment minutes + turnover minutes
Theoretical visits/day = spaces × operating minutes/day ÷ cycle time
Practical visits/month = theoretical visits/day × days × practical factor

What the result means

The main result is monthly practical visit capacity under a steady-flow assumption. The theoretical figure shows the space-time ceiling before the practical factor reserves capacity for real-world interruptions and uneven demand.

Emergency arrivals and service times are variable. Boarding, acuity, diagnostics, staffing by role, surge requirements, and clinical safety constraints require separate analysis.

Example calculation

For 18 staffed spaces open 24 hours, with 180 treatment minutes, 15 turnover minutes, 30 days, and an 80% practical factor:

Cycle time = 195 minutes
18 × 1,440 ÷ 195 = 132.92 theoretical visits/day
132.92 × 30 × 0.80 = 3,190.15 practical visits/month
