Concrete yd³ = floor area × slab thickness ÷ 12 ÷ 27 × (1 + waste)
Net wall area = perimeter × wall height × (1 − openings)
Studs = ceiling(perimeter ÷ 1.333 + corners/opening allowance) × (1 + waste)

What the result means

The quantities are conceptual takeoff values for a simple shell. They help size orders and compare schemes, but structural plans determine actual framing, foundation, headers, roof assemblies, and code-required materials.

Do not order structural materials from this estimate alone. A designer, engineer, contractor, or supplier should prepare a drawing-based takeoff.

Example calculation

A 400 sq ft addition with a 4-inch slab and 10% waste needs:

400 × (4 ÷ 12) ÷ 27 × 1.10 = 5.43 yd³ of slab concrete

Does the concrete estimate include footings or foundation walls?

No. It estimates only a uniform slab at the entered thickness.

Why is perimeter required when floor area is already entered?

Different shapes can have the same area but very different wall lengths and material needs.

Are interior partition walls included in the drywall estimate?

No. The estimate uses exterior wall area only; add partition wall faces separately.

How are window and door openings handled?

The entered opening percentage reduces wall sheathing, drywall, and insulation area.

Can the roof factor represent a pitched roof?

Yes. Use a factor above 1.00 to account for slope and overhang, based on the planned geometry.
