Formula
Net guest area = (total area − fixed-use area) × (1 − circulation allowance)
Estimated capacity = floor(Net guest area ÷ space per guest)
All areas use square feet. The selected space-per-guest value should reflect the planned layout.
What the result means
The estimate is a planning capacity based on usable space, not an occupancy permit. A positive gap means the layout fits on paper; a negative gap shows how many places must be removed or how much more space is needed.
Confirm the final room setup with the venue and local fire or building authority. Exits, accessibility, furniture, and local occupancy rules can reduce permitted capacity.
