Estimate microbial or cell-population doubling time from counts taken before and after a serial-dilution interval. The calculator corrects both measurements for their dilution factors and reports growth rate, doublings, and doubling time.
Each corrected population N equals measured count × dilution factor.
Doubling time describes exponential growth over the measured interval. It should not be extrapolated through lag, stationary, or death phases without additional observations.
This theoretical estimate assumes accurate transfers and complete mixing; laboratory results should be verified with appropriate controls and measurement uncertainty.
