Formula

Reject rate = rejected units ÷ total units
Allocated energy loss = total kWh × reject rate
Energy cost loss = allocated energy loss × price per kWh

What the result means

The main result estimates embedded process energy associated with rejects using an average-per-unit allocation.

Defects found early may embody less energy than finished rejects; use stage-level metering when available.

At 10,000 total units, 250 rejects, 15,000 kWh, and $0.14/kWh, the reject rate is 2.5%. Allocated energy loss is 375 kWh, costing $52.50.

Not separately. Add rework energy to total process energy or measure it as its own process.

Use submetered or stage-weighted data; the average allocation here will understate that difference.

Why are replacement gross units higher than rejected units?

Replacement production is also subject to the entered yield, so more starts may be needed.

Can I enter a zero electricity price?
