How to use this calculator
- Enter total session duration.
- Rate the overall session effort from 1 to 10.
- Choose the session type and surface.
- Add your previous seven-day load to see the session's contribution.
Estimate internal tennis training load from session duration and perceived effort, then add transparent adjustments for match play and surface demand. The output uses session-RPE load units, a widely understandable way to track how hard a workout felt. A weekly share and a suggested next-day category help you place the session inside your own recent training pattern.
The load is an internal-load estimate in arbitrary units (AU). Compare it with your own history rather than another player's values because perceived effort and session structure differ.
The session-type and surface factors are transparent planning assumptions. For formal monitoring, follow the method chosen by your coach or sports-medicine team.
A 90-minute session at RPE 7, entered as a competitive match on hard court, gives a base load of 630 AU and an adjusted load of 756 AU. Added to 1,800 AU from the prior seven days, the displayed updated total is 2,556 AU and this session represents 29.6% of it.
AU means arbitrary units: session minutes multiplied by perceived effort, with the selected planning adjustments.
Use one consistent definition; including warm-up and active court time is practical for repeat tracking.
The calculator assumes competitive match play has greater density and psychological demand than technical practice at the same reported RPE.
Not reliably. RPE is individual, so trends within the same player are more informative.
No. It only shows how much this session contributes to the entered total and does not predict injury.
| Variable | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Session RPE | Whole-session effort on a 1–10 scale. |
| Base load | Minutes multiplied by RPE. |
| Type multiplier | 1.00 technical, 1.10 point play, or 1.20 match. |
| Surface multiplier | Small user-visible planning adjustment by surface. |
