Formula

Recovery need = clamp(load ÷ 20 + sleep deficit × 7 + soreness × 4 + matches × 2 − available hours × 0.25, 0, 100).

The score rises with session load, short sleep, soreness, and recent matches, then falls as more time is available before the next match. Use the category to adjust planned intensity.

Pain, illness, concussion symptoms, or unusual fatigue require appropriate professional assessment regardless of the score.

Example calculation

For 700 AU, 6.5 hours of sleep, soreness 5, 24 hours until the next match, and two recent matches: recovery need is 63.5/100. That is a moderate recovery priority with a 1.5-hour sleep deficit and load pressure of 35 points.
