Soccer Training Performance Score Calculator

Summarize an outfield player's match contribution with a transparent 0–100 score built from minutes, goals, assists, shooting, pass completion, defensive actions, and turnovers. The tool normalizes event counts to 90 minutes and shows attacking and possession components separately. It is a review aid, not a scouting grade, contract evaluation, or substitute for position-specific video analysis.

Formula

Counts are scaled to 90 minutes. Score = attack (max 45) + possession (max 25) + defense (max 20) + turnover control (max 10), then capped at 100.

What the result means

The score rewards direct attacking output while still crediting ball retention and defensive work. Because roles differ, compare a player mainly with their own position and responsibilities.

Event-provider definitions vary. Goalkeepers require different metrics and should not use this outfield model.

Example calculation

In 90 minutes with 1 goal, 0 assists, 3 shots on target, 84% passing, 8 defensive actions, and 10 turnovers, the attack component is 27.5, possession is 21.0, defense is 16.0, and turnover control is 7.5. The total performance score is 72.0/100.

Tips for better results

  • Compare like positions and similar match contexts.
  • Use the same event provider across matches.
  • Review video for actions the box score misses.
  • Avoid overvaluing one goal in an otherwise weak performance.
  • Track rolling trends rather than ranking players from one match.

Frequently asked questions

Can goalkeepers use this soccer performance score?

No. The model is designed for outfield players and omits goalkeeper-specific events.

Why are statistics scaled per 90 minutes?

Per-90 scaling makes different playing times easier to compare, although very short appearances remain volatile.

Does pass completion account for pass difficulty?

No. It does not distinguish progressive, pressured, or long passes, so tactical context still matters.

What counts as a defensive action?

Use a consistent total of tackles won, interceptions, and recoveries when those events are available.

Is this score suitable for scouting decisions?

Not by itself. Scouting should include role, league level, opposition, tracking data, and video.
