What this tool does

Render selected PDF pages as grayscale PNG or JPEG images and collect them in a ZIP file.

PDF.js renders pages sequentially, a luminance transform converts every pixel to gray, and JSZip packages the images.

This produces grayscale page images, not a grayscale PDF, and interactive PDF features are flattened.

FAQ

How are PDF page colors converted to grayscale?

Each rendered pixel is converted with a luminance-weighted red, green, and blue calculation.

Can I choose PNG or JPEG grayscale images?

Yes. PNG is lossless and often better for text; JPEG can be smaller for scanned or photographic pages.

Will grayscale conversion keep PDF text searchable?

No. The output files are page images, so searchable text and interactive elements are flattened.

Can I convert only odd or selected pages?

Use comma-separated pages and ranges. For odd pages, list them explicitly in the page-range field.

Why are grayscale images still using RGB channels?

Browser PNG and JPEG encoders may store equal RGB channel values rather than a single-channel grayscale color space.
