How to use this PDF tool

  1. Select one PDF. The file stays in this browser tab.
  2. Enter All or a range such as 1-3, 7.
  3. Run the inspection and review the summary.
  4. Download the generated JSON report if you need an audit record.

What this tool does

Portrait, landscape, and square pages. The inspection reads structures exposed by PDF.js and does not edit the source file.

PDF.js opens the document, resolves the requested pages, and collects portrait, landscape, and square pages. Findings are serialized into a new JSON report.

Complex XFA documents, proprietary extensions, encrypted files, and malformed objects can limit what a browser can expose.

Supported formats

The input must be a standard PDF. The downloadable result is a UTF-8 JSON report; the original PDF is never returned as the result.

Encrypted PDFNot supported unless PDF.js can open it without a password

Tips for better results

  • Use All for a complete document audit.
  • Use a narrow page range to investigate a known problem faster.
  • Keep the JSON report with the source file when documenting preflight work.

FAQ

Can this pdf orientation checker inspect an encrypted PDF?

Password-protected or encrypted PDFs may not open in the browser. Remove the password with an authorized tool before inspection.

Does the pdf orientation checker upload my document?

No. The selected PDF is read locally by PDF.js in your browser; this page does not send the file to a server.

What is included in the downloaded page orientation report?

The JSON report includes the source filename, scan time, page-level findings, totals, and any limitations relevant to page orientation.

Why might page orientation differ from Adobe Acrobat results?

PDF.js exposes browser-readable document structures. Rare proprietary objects, dynamic XFA content, or malformed entries may be reported differently by desktop software.

Can I inspect a very large PDF for page orientation?

Yes, but browser memory and processing time vary by device. Close other heavy tabs and scan large documents one at a time.
