How to use this PDF tool

  1. Select one PDF.
  2. Review the scope and start the local analysis.
  3. Check the on-page summary, then download the JSON report.

What this tool does

The inspector reads interactive AcroForm annotations exposed by the PDF parser. It reports field names, types, values, flags, and page numbers. Dynamic XFA forms may not be visible.

Each page is scanned for Widget annotations. Field metadata is normalized into a downloadable JSON report.

A zero-field result means no supported AcroForm widgets were exposed; it does not prove that a dynamic XFA document has no forms.

Supported formats

This page accepts standard PDF files readable by PDF.js. Password-protected, damaged, unusually large, and dynamic XFA documents may be unsupported.

Tips for better results

  • Use original PDFs rather than scans of printed pages.
  • For comparisons, select the older PDF first and the revised PDF second.
  • Verify flagged findings in a desktop PDF viewer before production use.

FAQ

Does PDF Form Inspector upload my PDF to a server?

No. The PDF is read by JavaScript in your browser. The page does not add a file-upload request.

Can PDF Form Inspector read password-protected PDF files?

A PDF that requires a password may not open. Remove authorized encryption first, then run the inspection again.

What does the downloaded PDF Form Inspector report contain?

The JSON report contains the source file names, analysis time, supported findings, and tool-specific differences or warnings.

Will PDF Form Inspector work with very large PDFs?

Large or image-heavy PDFs can use substantial memory. Close other tabs and test a smaller copy if the browser becomes slow.

How accurate is PDF Form Inspector for production preflight?

A zero-field result means no supported AcroForm widgets were exposed; it does not prove that a dynamic XFA document has no forms. For regulated or press-critical work, confirm the result with a dedicated desktop preflight application.
