What this tool does

Check rendered page edges for visible content inside a chosen safe margin. It does not send the selected document to a server.

Rendered edge pixels → margin warnings → text report

This is a heuristic preflight, not a formal compliance certification.

Supported formats

Accepts one standard PDF up to 100 MB. Encrypted, damaged, XFA, or unusually complex files may not process correctly.

Tips for better results

  • Keep an untouched copy of the source PDF.
  • Inspect several output pages at full zoom.
  • Use a dedicated preflight application for regulated publishing workflows.

FAQ

How does the PDF safe margin checker detect edge content?

It renders each page and looks for non-white pixels inside the selected edge margin.

Can the checker identify intentional full-bleed artwork?

It flags visible edge content but cannot decide whether that content is intentional.

What safe margin values are available?

You can check 3 mm, 5 mm, or 0.25 inch from every page edge.

Does the margin checker modify my PDF?

No. It creates a text report and leaves the source PDF unchanged.

Can faint marks be missed by the checker?

Yes. Very light colors, transparency, and unusual backgrounds can affect the pixel-based heuristic.
