Working with fields and signatures without breaking the form

PDF forms can be more complicated than they look because the visible boxes on the page may be tied to named fields, validation rules, calculated values, or signature areas. Form and signature tools are useful for inspecting fields, preparing fillable documents, flattening completed copies, and handling simple signature workflows. A PDF that looks correct after filling may still behave differently when opened in another viewer, so testing matters.

Before distributing a form, fill it once yourself from start to finish. Check tab order, required fields, dates, checkboxes, and whether entered text fits inside the available space. If you flatten a completed form, keep the editable original separately. For signed documents, preserve the final signed copy exactly as received rather than making casual edits afterward.
