Pieces per shift = cycles/hour × pieces/cycle × shift hours × utilization

What the result means

This is a throughput model. It treats utilization as a combined allowance for setup, material handling, blade changes, maintenance, waiting, and other noncycling time.

Equipment safety, cut accuracy, operator qualifications, guarding, dust collection, and maintenance requirements must be evaluated separately.

Example calculation

At 90 cycles/hour, one piece per cycle, 75% utilization, and an 8-hour shift, effective output is 67.5 pieces/hour and 540 pieces per shift.
