How to use this PDF tool
- Select exactly two PDF files.
- Set the page range and comparison mode.
- Choose Compare Text and wait for processing to finish.
- Review the statistics, then download the result file.
Extract and compare text from two PDFs, page by page, then download a plain-text difference report without uploading either document.
PDF.js reads each page text layer. The tool normalizes it according to your chosen mode and produces a line-oriented report for pages that differ.
Scanned image-only PDFs need OCR first. Reading order depends on the text structure stored in the PDF.
Input must be a valid PDF readable by the browser libraries. Processing capacity depends on page complexity and available device memory.
| Input | Output |

| Encrypted PDF | Not supported |
No. The selected files are read and processed by JavaScript in your browser. The page does not send the PDF contents to a processing server.
No. Remove the password with the document owner's permission before using this tool. Encrypted or damaged files may be rejected by the PDF libraries.
Not directly. Image-only scans have no text layer for PDF.js to extract. Run OCR on both files first, then compare the OCR results.
PDF processing uses device memory. Very long documents, complex vector pages, and high-resolution visual comparisons can exceed the memory available to the browser tab.
A current desktop version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari is recommended. Keep the tab open until the output download becomes available.
